“Texas Workforce Commission Workshop”
(Freer, TX – November 28, 2016) – The City of Freer and the Texas Workforce Commission will hold a Business Development Workshop on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., at the Best Western in Freer. This workshop is open to all business owners, aspiring business owners, managers and human resource personnel. Sonia Valdez of the Texas Workforce Commission and Leticia Flores of the Office of the Governor will be on-hand to provide local business people with key information about current Texas business regulations and changes coming in 2017. The workshop will also provide local businesses the opportunity to network and promote their services and products. There will also be door prizes and any business that is represented at the workshop will receive free advertisement. This workshop is being organized by San Antonio based EMC Strategy Group and is one of five Business & Economic Development Workshops that have been held locally since August. EMC is also organizing the Inaugural Freer Business Awards Reception, which will be held in February. “City of Freer and U.S. Small Business Administration Team Up”
(Freer, TX – October 31, 2016) The City of Freer and the U.S. Small Business Administration held a Business & Economic Development Workshop on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Best Western.
This free workshop was held for aspiring business owners and current business owners. SBA’s District Director Angela Burton and her team addressed detailed procedures on how to set up a business and discussed the registration process through the state and federal government. The workshop highlighted free resources available by the state and federal government to help local business owners grow successful businesses.
The city’s Government Relations and Business & Economic Development Consulting Firm, EMC Strategy Group, organized the workshop and also conducted a marketing session on the effective use of social media and how to properly use company websites to promote products or services with minimal financial resources.
Attendees had the opportunity to get direct advice from the SBA’s business experts and also were given door prizes. The next Business Development Workshop will be held on November 15 and will feature the USDA office of Rural Development. August 15, 2016 – The City of Freer participated in the South Texas Business & Economic Development Forum, which was held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. The forum featured presentations from the Office of Governor Abbott, Small Business Administration (SBA) and Lifefund. This forum served as the launch for a series of Business & Economic Development initiatives planned by EMC Strategy Group Owner Janice M. Gonzalez. Janice previously served as the Business & Economic Development Director for the El Paso Chamber of Commerce. Forum presenters included SBA District Director Angela Burton, Governor Abbott’s South Texas Director Leticia Flores and Liftfund Market Manager Laura Estrada. Each of the presenters briefed city officials on their agency responsibilities and available resources to help strengthen local economic conditions. EMC will plan and coordinate year-round Business & Economic Development workshops and training seminars on behalf of the City of Freer. For more information contact Janice M.
